Pilates United Workshops

Suus Wilms of Pilates United knows better than anyone the need of teachers for additions to the Pilates mat repertoire. She is at the cradle of inventing and developing workshops with creative modifications on exercises in the mat repertoire. Among others in the two workshops below that are now on the agenda.

Deeper dive into Mat

Deepening your understanding of how to engage your powerhouse in the mat repertoire. How to transfer this knowledge to your clients using cueing but more so: how to build up the 100 or the roll-up using pre-pilatesexercises by using feedback from the wall/door to get awareness in where you are in your body and space.

But also:

  • Connecting the arms and legs through the center and lengthening out with control.(Twist, Saw.)
  • Finding the correct connection to core and lumbopelvic stability. (Series of 5).
  • Lengthen and scoop (Spine stretch forward, roll over) as well as core control, flexibility and deepening your understanding of where to start, maintain and finish the mat-exercise.
  • How to find and use the push-pull within the exercise.

Through modification you’ll learn where to start from and continue to progress the exercise.

Your clients will be more aware of the correct posture and their powerhouse, alignment, and full body movement within the Pilates mat exercise.

Joseph Pilates Gizmo’s

Joseph Pilates designed numerous of small toys
/Gizmo’s besides the studio apparatus. Those could help to correct posture by training the feet and hands and while doing so, integrating the whole body at the same time. Since Pilates is body and mind training, the Gizmo’s would not only work the “smaller’ muscles of feet and hands but also engage and work the Powerhouse, legs and arms as well and creating stability and mobility at the same time. Focus, balance, and awareness while working with the toe corrector/toe gizmo, bean bag roll-up device, headdress/posture & poise apparatus and the breath-a-cizer.

Experience the repertoire and how to develop your own tools to your Pilates mat class if you don’t have these original Gizmos. The Gizmos are as much part of the Pilates repertoire as the ‘big’ apparatus. They will give you a different perspective on footwork, standing posture and core control.
